这张5.25寸软盘，大概是我能找得到的最早的AutoCAD的历史照片了，细心的同学可以在照片中看到，当时的版本号是AutoCAD-80，那是1982 年，AutoCAD之父John Walker和Dan Drake及Greg Lutz分别为IBM工作站及Victor 9000(当时的一种计算机)编写最初的AutoCAD辅助绘图程序。
1.0的诞生
当时的计算机，内存小的可怜，普遍只有64K bytes， 其中52k可供用户使用。
接下来的1983年，分别又推出了1.1，1.2，1.3和1.4版本。
2.0 的时代
从2.0版本开始，AutoCAD的绘图能力有了质的飞跃，同时改善了兼容性，能够在更多种类的硬件上运行，并增强和完善了DWG文件格式。20多年过去 了，现在看到AutoCAD 2.18版本绘制的航天飞机模型，你是否会赞叹到合不上嘴巴?
更令人惊奇的是，如果你能幸运地找到这个版本的DWG文件，它仍然可以在最新版的AutoCAD 2011中打开!!
Rx版本
1987 年，2.6之后的版本，没有延续x.x的版本号形式，而是改用了Rx的编号形式，其中x是数字，从1987年到1997年，一共发布了从R9到R14共6 个版本，下面这张图是在R12中编辑模型照片，其中下方的是84年制作的2D模型，上方时88年绘制的3D模型，看，在那个时候AutoCAD就支持3D 了!!!
R13这个版本值得一提，因为它是最后一个同时在UNIX，MS-DOS和WINDOWS 3.1 上共同发布版本。
21世纪的AutoCAD
1999 年，AutoCAD 2000发布了，接下来的几年间，一直到2008版，AutoCAD为不断改进性能，增强DWG文件，改善与其他软件的交互性方面做着不懈的努力。
这两张图分别是DWF中打开的2D及3D模型。
AutoCAD 2009首次采用了与微软Office 2007类似的Ribbon界面，AutoCAD 2010和2011则在3D建模上达到了新高度，引入了多种新特性，并同时在32和64位平台上兼容Windows 7。
在2010和2011这两个版本的开发过程中，Autodesk也在同步研发Mac平台上的 AutoCAD，努力让AutoCAD的忠实用户们能在更自由地选择操作平台。
