电源

早在二战期间，工程师用二进制系统来标识电源按钮：1代表“开”，0代表“关”。1973年，国际电工委员会（ICE）把一个“开口处有条线嵌入的圆圈” 粗略地定义为“standby power state（待机电源状态）”，并且一直沿用至今。但是，IEEE认为这个符号非常含糊，故把它定义为“Power（电源）”。

这个符号的曝光率非常高。不仅电器上有，其他非电器上也有，比如：T恤上。还有更牛叉的，2010年3月份，纽约市卫生部门宣布在TT的包装上印上它。
命令键

“命令键”也称“苹果键”，在空格键两旁各有一个，有些键盘也只有一个“命令键”。非苹果键盘没有，故国内用户比较少见。（不过，它很像咱们的中国结。）它就是非苹果键盘上的“Ctrl”按键。

(苹果老键盘，当初乔布斯就嫌苹果Logo太多了，不知他们为什么又加上去了？)

据Mac开发团队成员安迪·赫茨菲尔德回忆，当初在和其他团队成员一起工作时，需要把“菜单命令”直接译为“键盘命令”，所以他们决定新增一个特殊的功能键。思路很简单：当和其他按钮一起按下时，“苹果键”将调用相应的菜单命令。

(苹果新键盘，终于把苹果Logo去掉了，换成了文字“Command”。注意看蓝色方框内的“播放/暂停”按键！)

当初的“苹果键”图标就是苹果的Logo，因为又多了一个Logo，乔布斯不是很喜欢。赫茨菲尔德回忆说：“屏幕上的苹果Logo太多了！很恐/怖！我们滥用了苹果Logo。”于是，苏珊·卡蕾受命开始重新设计图标。在翻阅国际符号字典后，苏珊选定了一种花状符号。这个命令键符号一直沿用至今。
蓝牙

你可能没有听说过10世纪丹麦国王哈拉尔德的故事吧？这位国王是个有名的蓝莓行家，酷爱吃蓝莓。所以，他的牙齿被染蓝了，便有“蓝牙”这个绰号。在丹麦语 中，“Bl?tand”（抱歉，字符集不支持丹麦语。）依次对应的英文是“Bluetooth”。蓝牙Logo是哈拉尔德名字首字母的2个符号的组合体。 恰恰有趣的是，首个蓝牙接收器的形状很像牙齿，并且它的颜色就是蓝色。

USB图标

USB图标本身就是USB 1.0规格的部分，它有点类似罗马海神尼普顿的兵器三叉戟。（但你并不能用这个“三叉戟”来叉东西。）USB推广组织把三个叉子头部改成了三角形、正方形和圆形。为什么这么做呢？因为这就表明所有不同的附加的外设都可以用同一种标准。

“播放”

播放/暂定符号并不只有计算机上才有，在键盘（见苹果新键盘）和多媒体播放器也都有。可惜的是，无论是“三角形箭头指向右边的”播放符号还是“双条形”的 暂停符号，其出处都没有权威的来源。20世纪60年代中期，播放符号首次出现于录音机上。三角形的箭头方向代表磁带的正常旋转方向。另外，两个►►是“快进”，两个◄◄ 则是“倒带”。

“暂停”

刚才在上面说了，“暂停”符号没有权威的出处。不过它很像电气图中的符号；也像计算机编程语言中的“或”；还像餐桌上的筷子。也有人说，它就是被挖中间部分的“停止”符号（■）。

“休眠”

很多人经常把这个符号误认为“待机状态”。对于电子设备来说，“待机状态”不是很直观。所以，IEEE沿用了ICE的待机按钮，并打算重新取了一个名 字。（IEEE）理事机构重名为“休眠”，其作用是：唤醒机器。现在在美国和欧洲，新月图标是设备处于休眠状态的标志。但是在日本，你很可能看到 “ZZZ”标志的“休眠”按钮。

@

@符号是这张列表中的唯一的荣登（纽约市）现代艺术博物馆之建筑和设计分类的符号。这个神奇的符号是如何变得这么强大的呢？1971年，雷·汤姆林逊把@符号引入到邮件地址中，用来分隔用户名和机器名。在汤姆林逊之前的1885年，美国人安德伍德制造的第一台打字机键盘上就有@符号。更往前，@的历史更加奇特。有资料表明，六世纪的僧侣就已在用@符号。

@符号有很多名字，比如：“蜗牛”（法国和意大利）、“小老鼠”（中国宝岛）和“猴子尾巴”（荷兰和德国）等。
火线

1995年，Apple公司的一个小团队正在设计一个符号，这个必须要精确反应他们正在研发的新技术。最初设计火线目的是替代SCSI，但火线的主要优势 在于，它为A/V（音频/视频）设备提供高速连接。所以，设计人员采用有三个分支的符号，分别代表“视频”、“音频”和“数据”。最初，火线符号的颜色为 红色，后来不知为何改成了黄/色。

SBBOD – Spinning Beach Ball Of Death

它是Apple的Mac OS X 系统上独有的光标。它和Windows系统中的沙漏光标有相似的作用，均表示应用程序没有响应系统（事件）调用。用户要不等待响应，要不就退出程序。所 以，它有很多恐/怖的名字：“末日催眠轮”、“旋转比萨”、“死亡风车”、和“旋转死亡沙滩排球”。苹果官方称之为“旋转等待光标”。（不过，也有称之为 “彩虹球”。这个叫法倒是很形象。）

实际上，这个图标首次“亮相于”乔布斯的NeXT计算机公司生产的NeXTstep计算机上。（NeXTstep就是Mac OS X的前身。）不管它是什么时候诞生的，用户看到这个图标都会比较头疼。故很多Mac用户常“小骂”该图标。

以太网

以太网的官方诞生日期是1973年5月22日。上面这张图是罗伯特·麦特卡夫博士在1976年画的以太网草图。

我们现在熟知的这个符号是由IBM的大卫·希尔发明的。据希尔说，当年有一整套图标用来描述不同的局域网连接，这个图标是其中的一个。这一组方块■是没有分层的（无主次之分），方块代表计算机或终端机。
